CKI Offering AED and CPR Training
We are excited to announce that we will be offering AED (automated external defibrillator) and CPR training through the Elgin Police Department on March 15, from 11:30 am – 3:00 pm at the Elgin Police Department located at 151 Douglas Street in Elgin.
We are taught that saving a life, "pekuach nefesh,” is so important that it overrides almost every other religious rule. It is so important, the Talmud tells us, "Save One Life, You Save The World."
It is with this in mind that we have arranged this vital instruction for our members and staff. Having members that have taken the training - and our teachers, many of whom have already been trained - will help us to respond to cardiac emergencies that could happen at CKI or anywhere. We do this partly to honor teacher, Earl Sternfeld, whose father, suffered a heart attack at his synagogue and did not survive.
There is no cost for the training. However, anyone taking the training who needs American Heart Association (AHA) certification for their job or activities will need to pay a $17.00 fee to receive the AHA card.
Certificates will be presented to all participants who complete the course. The class is open to anyone 12 and up who is physically able to perform the required procedures. There is a class limit of 25 participants so please register early.
Please help us save the world.
